Urban Green Home说明：
An increasingly popular redevelopment trend in JVPD, a neigh-bourhood in Mumbai, makes old bungalows battle for light and ventilation between newly developed high rise buildings. This multi family home too had to gave in to the demands of their growing family. As a result they decided to redevelop their fami-ly bungalow into a multi-storey apartment building, comprising of three duplexes. The initial process of the interior spatial organisation and design of the middle duplex, began soon after the buildings floor plans were drawn up. This enabled flexibility in creating a layout, suit-able to the clients lifestyle by making necessary changes where needed. The emphasis on the spatial interaction between the two levels was a key conceptual element of the design. A dou-ble height covered courtyard space which was achieved after some negotiation in the building design achieved this crucial connection. The lower level with the common areas is envisioned as a more fluid space. Spaces extend into each other visually. However without revealing each space completely it creates a sense of curiosity of what lays beyond. The upper level contains a series of rooms that open up to a central family room, which in turn overlooks the double height courtyard. The courtyard anchors the house. Steel framed windows surround the courtyard and make the two levels speak to each other, and the house appears as one cohesive unit.
